Opening Day - Saturday, November 5th

Opening Day is finally here! We will begin our 7th annual winter farmers market this Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 - 2:00. We are pleased to have Chef Chris Avtges returning for a free cooking demo at 11:00. Chris was a contestant on the Food Network Show "Chopped" and has dramatically changed his lifestyle with healthy cooking. His cooking demo at Chelmsford Agway will be filmed for the show "Cooking In The Merrimack Valley". We have a great line-up of vendors for our first market of the season. There are returning favorites as well as several new additions to the market. If you are interested in learning more about the vendors, there are links to each of the vendors on the right side of this blogsite. Our non-profit this week is the Chelmsford Boy Scouts Pack 81. They will be selling popcorn to support scouting activities for the pack. We will also have Brian Henderson at the market to entertain us with his fabulous voice!
Here is a listing of this week's vendors:
Razzy's Baking & Catering: cookies, fruit bars, brownies, tea breads, mini pies, cookie pops, cake pops, scones and pies
Wild Nick's Cafe: Panzanella salad, mac & cheese, spinach & red quinoa salad, red wine braised flank steak with roasted red peppers and gruyere cheese panini sandwiches.
OMG! Bagels:  delicious New York style bagels - boiled, baked & delivered fresh
Cuesta's Fiestas: beef, chicken, spinach and guava/cream cheese empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, chicken chorizo paella and ham croquettes
Fudge N' Stuff: homemade fudge, toffe, brittles, barks and popcorn
Muddy Water Coffee Roasters: freshly roasted coffee beans by the bag and coffee by the cup

Chef Chris Avtges will be here on Opening Day!

Chef Chris Avtges, a contestant on the Food Network show "Chopped" will be our special guest on Opening Day of the market on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00.  He will be joining us for a cooking demo and taping of "Cooking In The Merrimack Valley". Chef Chris will be preparing a gluten-free beer braised pork belly that can help you step up your tailgating menu! There will be two preparations: with cheesy grits and collard greens - and as a sandwich with fried egg. He will be using ingredients that are available that day at the Farmers Market. Opening Day: Saturday, Nov 5th 10:00AM - 2:00PM

The market will be opening in three weeks! We have some great new vendors lined up, and many returning favorites. You Love Bakery will be at the market with delicious Greek traditional desserts. Also new to the market is Giacomo's Gourmet Granola and A Healthy Choice Catering bringing breakfast sandwiches and soups. Purple Carrot Bread Company will offer homemade breads and scones. This year Cuesta's Fiestas will be offering Paella in addition to their mouth-watering empanadas, croquettes and Cuban sandwiches. We are very pleased that Wild Nicks CafĂ© will be back with her healthy salads, juices, mac & cheese and more. Jones Farm will be here with eggs, squash, carrots, kale, spinach, apples, potatoes, onions, turnips and plenty more.
